Although multi-tools have piques my interest more and more, over the last few years, before multi-tools, I had quite a fascination with knives. Even as a kid I found knives fascinating, all the different shapes, designs, and types of steels. So it was only natural that as soon as I was allowed to start buying knives the addiction began.

My Overall Favorite EDC Knife: CRKT M16-14ZLEK

The CRKT M16-ZLEK offers a lot of quality features that make this an excellent EDC knife. What makes this knife so great is that it is the sum of all its parts. Everything from the design, materials, and craftsmanship are all taken into account. If you take away one of these three aspects then you no longer have the great knife you see here, it all works together.

My Favorite Fighting Folder: Cold Steel Recon 1

Of all of these, the Recon 1 is the one I have carried the most. Not necessarily because it’s my favorite, but because I have owned it the longest. When it comes to strength and durability Cold Steel has got you covered. The Recon 1 is well balanced for its size of folding knife and has a great G10 handle design to keep the knife in your hand no matter what the situation.

My Favorite Assisted Opening Folder: Kershaw Blur

The Blur uses Kershaw’s legendary SpeedSafe assisted opening system. The SpeedSafe system makes for a fast and smooth opening blade. I did notice the heavier and longer blade of the Blur seems slightly slower than the lightweight Leek, but not enough to make a real difference. Besides the blade, the Blur has one other trick up its sleeve, a carbide glass breaker on the butt for good measure.
